Director of Business Development

 

Summary:

The Director of Business Development supports the goal of the Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging (WIHA) to expand and sustain the dissemination of evidence-based programs proven to promote healthy aging.  This position is responsible for developing business partnerships with health systems, health insurance plans, managed care organizations, clinically-integrated networks, self-funded employers and other health organizations in Wisconsin.  This position is also responsible for managing and expanding the licensing program for Stepping On North America, WIHA’s falls prevention program, and serves as a consultant to other WIHA programs under consideration for national dissemination.

  • County aging units and aging & disability resource centers as relevant
  • Wisconsin DHS Bureau on Aging and Disability Resources staff as relevant

Primary duties and responsibilities:

 

Business Development Program in Wisconsin:

(1)   Perform market research and conduct networking to identify prospective health care clients.

(2)   Develop a range of models for delivery of both evidence-based health promotion programs and accompanying support services to health insurance plans, health systems and other clients.

(3)   Develop and implement work flow process for business development that includes building relationships with prospective and current clients, designing customized value propositions and proposals, securing agreements for delivery of programs and support services through the range of delivery models, determining success measurements, providing ongoing customer service, projecting budget goals, etc. 

(4)   Build and maintain key infrastructure elements to manage the business development program, including the customer relations database, service agreements, client communications templates, print and digital media messaging, and other policies and procedures.


Licensing Program for Stepping On North America:

(1)   Perform market research and conduct networking to identify prospective license holders.

(2)   Develop and implement work flow process for license program management that includes building relationships with prospective and current license holders, designing customized value propositions and proposals, securing agreements for training and licensing options, determining success measurements, providing ongoing customer service, projecting budget goals, etc.  

(3)   Build and maintain key infrastructure elements to manage the licensing program, including the customer relations database, protocols for renewals, training and license agreements, license holder toolkit, print and digital media messaging, and other policies and procedures.

(4)   Contribute to the Stepping On Success Team, working collaboratively with WIHA’s Faculty Trainer and Director of Administration to serve prospective and current License Holders.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Administration or other related field.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience:  Five years of relevant experience in marketing, customer service, sales, health care, health insurance, non-profit management or related field.

 Desired Knowledge, Skills and/or Experience in:

(1)   Market research and analysis.

(2)   Development of value propositions and service pr.

(3)   Sales and marketing for intangible services and products.

(4)   Customer relationship management and customer service.

(5)   Development and maintenance of prospect databases.

(6)   Health systems, health insurance and health organizations, including reimbursement and incentives, government insurance programs, value-based payment in Medicare and Medicaid, and health reform’s impact on health care structures and reimbursement.

(7)   Working effectively with business partners, community partners, co-workers and the public.

(8)   Outstanding written and oral business communication and marketing skills.

 

Position Information

100% FTE, Monday-Friday.  Position either based in Madison or expected to spend part of work week in WIHA offices in Madison.  Some travel required.  Must hold valid Wisconsin driver’s license.  Generous fringe benefits package.  Salary commensurate with experience.
