Falls Prevention

At WIHA, we're all about healthy aging.  So while the programs listed at left are not ALL administered by WIHA, they are researched and proven to help people maintain their independence and quality of life by preventing falls.


We included links to the programs -- listed on the left -- to provide you with additional information about programs that may be available in your community.  


Preventing falls for older adults is a public health priority in Wisconsin.  To recognize:


  • Wisconsin's national leadership in promoting evidence based programs to prevent falls for older adults;  and, 
  • the efforts of Wisconsin communitites to prevent deaths and injuries from falls; 

Governor Walker declared September 2016 to be Fall Prevention Awareness Month, and recognized September 22, 2016 as Fall Prevention Awareness Day.
